Installing Gems from Git Repositories

Introducing Gems from Git Repositories Numerous diamonds are facilitated on git storehouses, for example, the open vaults on Github. Be that as it may, to get the most recent form, frequently there are no diamonds worked for you to introduce easily. Introducing from git is very simple however. To begin with, you need to comprehend what git is. Git is the thing that the engineers of the library use to follow the source code and to work together. Git isn't a discharge component. Its imperative to take note of that the adaptation of the product you get from git could possibly be steady. It is anything but a discharge form and could contain bugs that will be fixed before the following authority discharge. The primary thing you need to do so as to introduce pearls from git is introduce git. This page of The Git Book discloses how to do this. Its somewhat clear on all stages and once its introduced, you have all that you need. Introducing a pearl from a Git vault will be a 4 stage process. Clone the Git repository.Change to the new directory.Build the gem.Install the pearl. Clone the Git Repository In Git dialect, to clone a git vault is to make a duplicate of it. Would have been making a duplicate of the rspec store from github. This duplicate will be a full duplicate, the equivalent the engineer will have on their PCs. You can even make changes (however you wont have the option to submit these progressions once more into the store). The main thing you have to clone a git storehouse is the clone URL. This is given on the github page to RSpec. The clone URL for RSpec is git://github.com/dchelimsky/rspec.git. Presently essentially utilize the git clone order gave the clone URL. $ git clone git://github.com/dchelimsky/rspec.git This will clone the RSpec vault into an index called rspec. This catalog ought to consistently be equivalent to the last piece of the clone URL (less the .git part). Change to The New Directory This progression, as well, is direct. Just change to the new catalog made by Git. $ cd rspec Assemble the Gem This progression is more dubious. Diamonds are constructed utilizing Rake, utilizing the errand called pearl. $ rake jewel It may not be that basic however. At the point when you introduce a pearl utilizing the diamond order, quietly out of sight it accomplishes something rather significant: reliance checking. At the point when you issue the rake order, it might return with a mistake message saying it needs another diamond introduced first, or that you have to redesign a jewel previously introduced. Introduce or overhaul this pearl utilizing either the diamond order or by introducing from git. You may need to do this multiple times relying upon what number of conditions the jewel has. Introduce the Gem At the point when the assemble procedure is finished, you will have another diamond in the pkg catalog. Essentially give the relative way to this .pearl document to the jewel introduce order. Youll need head benefits to do this on Linux or OSX. $ pearl introduce pkg/gemname-1.23.gem The pearl is presently introduced and can be utilized similarly as some other jewel.

Comparison Of Movies And Books Essay Example For Students

Correlation Of Movies And Books Essay Numerous individuals contrast an English scholarly work with various films of their time. A case of this is Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw. An anecdote about a lady changed into a marvelous stunner drove into sovereignty, yet never loses her personality, is fundamentally the same as a film coordinated by Don Bluth called Anastasia. Bernard Shaws play Pygmalion and Don Bluths film Anastasia, show that one can change a people appearance, however the individual profound inside has never left the surface. The two have an enormous exhibit of similitudes and contrasts. Is additionally intriguing that the foundation of both the English essayist and executive are fundamentally the same as by they way they started. I will analyze both film work and artistic work of two excellent individuals. Bernard Shaw was conceived in Dublin on July 26, 1856. He was basically timid, yet made the persona of G.B.S. The player, controversialist, humorist, pundit, savant, mind, scholarly bozo and playwright (http://www.sites.netscape.net/bernardshawinfo) . Shaw experienced childhood in a family with an intoxicated dad, whom worked in a corn factory, a mother whom ventured out from home when he was fourteen. Bernard never went to class past the age of fourteen. After his mom left his dad had deteriorated (http://www.spartacus.schoonet.co.uk/jshaw.htm) . So he set out on an excursion to London in 1876, where he would turn into a functioning Socialist and a splendid stage speaker. His heart was recorded as a hard copy and after seven years he composed five ineffective books. He was effective with his reporting; he contributed Pall Mall Gazette (http://www.sites.netscape.net/bernardshawinfo). One of the numerous individuals that impacted him in his paper profession was William Stead. Shaw wen t to a talk on nationalization that was given by Henry George, which profoundly affected his thoughts of communism. In the time of 1884 he joined the Fabian Society and in 1885 the Socialist League. Bernard gave a talk on communism on November thirteenth which would bring about the Bloody Sunday Riot. Shaw was viewed as probably the best author of his time. He composed numerous plays, for example, Arms and the Man (1984), Satirizing sentimental perspectives toward affection and war. In 1897 The Devils Disciple, a play on the American Revolution, was delivered with incredible accomplishment in New York City (http://www.sites.netscape.net/bernardshawinfo). He additionally composed a play known as Pygmalion, which ridicules the English class framework through the account of a cockney young ladies change into a woman on account of a discourse teacher. The film My Fair Lady was created to enhance what Pygmalion was about. Of Shaws later plays, Saint Joan (1923) is the most critical; it c ontends that Joan of Arc, must be slaughtered in light of the fact that the world was not yet prepared for her. Among Shaws different plays are John Bulls Other Island (1940), The Doctors Dilemma, Fannys First Play, Back to Methuselah, The Apple Cart, Too True to Be Good, and The Intelligent Womans Guide to Socialism and Capitalism (http://www.spartacus.schoonet.co.uk/jshaw.htm). Bernard directed a solid assault on the London Theater and was firmly connected with the scholarly restoration of British theater. His numerous plays fall into a few classes: Plays wonderful, Unpleasant Comedies, interminable plays metabiological Pentateuch. Wear Bluth was naturally introduced to a group of seven kids in El Paso, Texas. Subsequent to watching Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs he discovered his calling. From the age of six he could generally be discovered drawing (http://www.movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc;id=180001539;cf=bios) . His family moved to Santa Monica, California, and upon graduation from secondary school he took his drawings to Walt Disney studios in Burbank. He acknowledged a situation as an in betweener. He worked with Disney from 1955 through 1956 on the exemplary film ?Sleeping Beauty?. He proceeded with his training at Brigham Young University, considering English writing. In 1977, he came back to Disney Animation Department as an Animator. He was elevated inside two years to Directing Animator and to Producer/Director the next year. From 1971 to 1979 he dealt with ? Robin Hood?, ? Winnie the Pooh and Tigger as well?, ?The Rescuers? also, the ?Small One? (http://www.movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc;id=180001539;cf=bio s) . He has made numerous esteemed energized movies and laser circle computer games. He was generally known for his vivified films that indicated fun, giggling, harmony, and cooperation. He is referred to a great deal of illustrators as a motivation to their composing style and their euphoria for the activity. Bernard Shaw and Don Bluth are fundamentally the same as each other. These two men share a significant number of things for all intents and purpose, at a youthful age both had discovered their calling. They had concluded they would take employments under huge organizations t o propel their vocations. Bluth and Shaw both needed to reform their fields of decision. In this era no organization can perform its tasks effectively without team involvement but especially cellular companies cant even dream of doing work without sales teams Hierarchal structure SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis covers strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses are generally internal attributes, which we can address by changing our business. Opportunities and threats are generally external. If ZONG cellular company has some opportunities in the market, there must be some threats to them; in the same way if they have strengths, there must be some weaknesses. I am going to discuss them one by one thoroughly. Strength of ZONG telecommunication company Strength is defined that any activity the organization does well or any unique resources the organization has provides a number of packages to its customers at least more than 22. Some of them are discussed below; PREPAID ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬ZONG 65 ZONG brings you ZONG 65, the new pre-paid package of ZONG that delivers 100% on economy and guarantees lowest call rates to any network in Pakistan ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Aanay Package Talk for an entire hour any hour, for only Rs.4.99 and for the first time in Pakistan you can change the hour everyday ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬50 Paisa/Call (8 Aanay) People claim of simplicity and yet give you half the truth. Only ZONG gives you the full truth at half the price. Now make calls to any other mobile network for 8 Aanay. ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Free Package For the first time in Pakistan you can make free calls for life! ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬ZONG Super Free Number Thats right you can literally talk your heart out 24 hours a day everyday to that special someone all for FREE ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Aik second Package Make call for just 4 paisa per second! ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Post paid Package Post paid packages are at least 12 in number. ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬GPRS Packages ZONG Unlimited @ Rs. 400+Tax/month ZONG Free @ Rs. 10+Tax/M 2. Weaknesses of ZONG telecommunication co. Weakness is defined as any activity the organization does not do well or the resources the organization needs but it does not posses. According to my point of view, the first and main weakness of the ZONG Company is their low quality service. They are failed to provide the best service to its customers to satisfy them. On one hand they have introduced a lot of new things but on other hand when the customer is unable to get complete benefit of those offerings, it is then very difficult for a company to retain their customers and to make new customers. 3. Opportunities of ZONG telecommunication co. Positive trends of organization in external environmental factors. Zong is one of the fastest growing cellular markets in the Pakistan and it has a chance to expand in the current situation. As I discussed earlier that Zong provides a number of packages and other services for customer satisfaction. In this way they develop a good will in the market and made millions of customers within last two years. They have opportunity to expand their businesses in Pakistani markets by improving their products and by satisfying the customer needs and wants. One main opportunity of ZONG is that it is a china mobile company and Chinese products are famous in the Pakistani markets. They already have developed a good will and entity in Pakistan and they know better the customer needs and wants in Pakistani societies better than the other telecommunication companies. So they have chance to grow high and maintain their market share for a long period. 4. Threats of ZONG telecommunication co. Threats are defined as the negative trends of organization in external environmental factors. ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Competitors A number of competitor are in the market like jazz, ufone, Telenor, warid etc. all of them are trying to defeat one another. Mostly ufone is a good cellular company and are attracting the customers more and more with the passage of time by providing better facilities and wide net work coverage to its customers. Competition of the telecommunication companies is rising day by day. Another problem the companies are facing that according to the new rules of Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA), every customer is free to transfer his/ her sim into another network which they think are reliable. Due to this reason all companies are trying to defeat their competitors by decreasing their call rates to attract more, providing lowest sms packages etc to attract more and more customer. In this way one company is trying to overcome another and in this process some companies are facing the loss. ÃÆ' ®Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Technology Technologies have reached beyond the limits. Time is changing and every company is trying to introduce the new technologies according to the situation which make their customer more reliable. As four or five years ago, the technology was not as good as it is in present time. So it is also one of the most dangerous threats to Zong Company to improve their technology with the passage of time. Suggestion/ implication ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¢ Net working The main problem of Zong Telecommunication Company is that their customers are not satisfied by their networking. They dont have a wide range of networking and there customers are facing a lot of problems because of signal problems. Whenever the customer is not properly satisfied by the companys services, it is very difficult for the Zong Company to attract the customer and to retain their existing customers. There is need a lot of improvement their networking as well as to make it better. If they dont take any step, they soon face a big problem and it is then impossible for them to remain in the market and to maintain their good will. ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¢Technology Technology is one of the most important factors. The time is changing; telecommunication revolution is the big revolution in this century; companies have needed to introduce new technologies according to the market demand to improve their net working and to satisfy the customers. In Pakistan other companies like Ufone, Jazz, Warid, and Telenor etc are working in the market for last 6 to 7 years. Their technology is better than the Zong as Zong is the new born company in the Pakistan. Zong has needed to do a lot to improve their Technology. If they do so they have a bright future in Pakistan. ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¢ Social aspect Social aspect is another important factor. The companies who trying to ignore the society will never prosper. In other words I can say that such companies have no way to exist in the market for a long time. Zong has needed to take look to the societies, and the people living there. They shouldnt take any step which is against the society and the people. They should to respect of what people are demanding to them.

Psychology And Christianity Second Edition By David Entwistle

SUMMARY The book Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity second edition by David Entwistle introduces the text by explaining how psychology can go in a direction, and Christian theology approach can lead in a different direction. He continued by stating the need for understanding and studying human behavior because people come from different walks of life and different expectations. It leads us to form unique perspectives to help give us an understanding of the individuals you encounter. The Entwistle s book addresses the relationship between Christianity and culture, Christianity and science, and Christianity and psychology. Entwistle enhances the history of the religious and science communities by informing his readers on how they have interacted throughout the centuries; he does this so that his readers will have a greater understanding of modern psychological thoughts regarding Christianity. Entwistle explained human reasons and faith based on Tertullian and Blamires s opinion. He gets his point across by telling about a newspaper article that talked about a group of worshippers that fell ill in their church from carbon monoxide poisoning; due to their constant prayer even after feeling lightheaded and nauseated. Tertullian believed that human reason (Athens) and faith (Jerusalem) are inherently irreconcilable. On the other hand, Blamires provided an alternative to Tertullian s viewpoint. The Negative Effects of Divorce on Children Free Essays

â€Å"So many persons think divorce a panacea for every ill, find out, when they try it, that the remedy is worse than the disease† (Qtd in Harper 192). Divorce in any situation tears a child apart, tossing them from one house to another, limiting the time spent with their parents, and confusing them. There arent very many reasons that would show to be more beneficial for the parent to leave than to stay and keep their marriage. We will write a custom essay sample on The Negative Effects of Divorce on Children or any similar topic only for you Order Now Usually its better for the children if their parents work through their differences rather than get a divorce. To anyone, divorce is a horrible word. There is no way to make the word sound better or make it less painful. According to the Webster’s Dictionary, divorce is â€Å"the legal dissolution of marriage or the termination of an existing relationship or union† (Webster’s 370). This definition makes it seem formal and doesnt show the feeling that people have when the word is mentioned. To most children, divorce is much more than a legal dissolution; it is their whole world being torn apart and thrown on the ground in pieces. One of the biggest problems that divorce imposes on children is the decision of who they should live with. Usually parents divorce when children are small and the children have no say in where they go. Since the child cant choose, this usually leads to custody battles that end in split custody or joint custody. Whatever the choice turns out to be, either one of them will be detrimental to the child. When split custody is decided, it forces either the child or the court to choose which parent to live with and which one is in the childs best interest. It limits the time the child spends with both parenta. When the child only lives with one parent, the relationship with the other parent can be severely damaged. According to the National Survey of Children, close to half of all children with divorced parents have not seen their nonresidential parent in the past year, and only one in six had weekly contact (Whitehead 2). Since the children don’t see both their parents often, the parent that the child lives is usually thought of as strict and â€Å"no fun† because that parent is always there and is always responsible for disciplining the child. This can damage and cause social problems with the child. The nonresidential parent is usually viewed as the fun, exciting one that the child wants to be with. This parent usually tries to give the child presents, and money almost like they are using it in an attempt to â€Å"buy† the child’s love. The child doesnt usually feel the love and security of having a close family, since they are constantly moving from house to house. Because of the constant movement, the child doesnt usually receive quality time from either parent, and it makes it more difficult to feel loved. Joint custody, on the other hand, proves to be even less successful (Zinmeister 29). This type of custody is now allowed in half of the states in the US, although, joint custody is very unusual because of the extreme complications. In California, where divorce is more common than anywhere else, only eighteen percent of divorced couples have joint custody. Even when the divorced parents maintain regular contact with their children, truly cooperative child rearing is rare (Zinmeister 29). Research shows, that the parents have no communication or mutual reinforcement; this usually leads to very unhealthy relationships with their children. Joint custody is even worse on a child because there is even more movement involved. With split custody, the child goes to the nonresidential parent’s house on a certain schedule. In joint custody, however, the child is constantly moves back and forth between houses, causing an even larger lack of time between parent and their child. The custody battle can be damaging, but the divorce of a child’s parents can also confuse the child, suggesting that it is better for parents to stay together. The child does not really know what commitment really means. Since these children see their parents breaking vows without a second thought, they start to think that whats right for the parents must be the right thing for them to do too. Children are basically shown that they dont have to work out their problems as long as they can run away. This is one reason that today, when someone makes a promise, there is really no promise of whether it will happen or not. According to The Effects of Divorce on Children, an article written by J. Lynn Rhodes, young adults whose parents have divorced previously are likely to have social problems and trouble forming and maintaining intimate relationships (Effects 1). The value of a person’s â€Å"word† has lessened. Partly because of bad examples parents are setting for their children when they get a divorce. Generally, its better for children to suffer a bad marriage than to cope with divorce. According to University of Michigan psychologist and divorce expert Neil Kalter, the misery of an unhappy marriage is less significant than the changes after a divorce. The children would rather their parents keep fighting and not get divorced (Marriage 64). Although it doesnt seem logical, it shows that children want their parents to be together no matter what the cost. The alternative to most divorces is not life in a war zone (Zinmeister 30). In the most of the number of divorces there is no problem or issue that could ruin a person’s childhood. These divorces almost always make the child worse off and create many unnecessary problems for the child. If parents would concentrate harder on working their problems out rather than their own personal happiness, the children would be better off. Divorce, however, isnt always a terrible thing. In a few situations it is for the best. The two situations that can prove beneficial for a person to get a divorce are abusive relationships and adultery. When one parent is abusive, whether verbal, physical, or sexual, to the children, it is more beneficial to the child if the parent leaves (Huffman 4). Also, if one parent is physically abusing the other, the marriage should be ended. If a child watches their parent get beaten their entire life, they could think that its okay to act that way to other people or they can begin to hate the parent for staying. Also, when a spouse is committing adultery, divorce is definitly an option. When one spouse is faced with the affairs and still wont stop having them, the Bible gives the option of divorce. In Matthew 19:8-9 it says, â€Å"Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery† (Huffman 9). Even under these ircumstances, Jesus permitted divorce, but he didnt encourage it. It generally shows to be more beneficial for a child if their parents stay in an imperfect marriage rather than getting a divorce. The things that are involved with a divorce severely damage a child. The child lacks a â€Å"sense of belonging† and becomes very confused. Therefore, when a person gets married, they need to think long and hard to make sure that it is the right choice for them and for possible children that they may have one day. The person needs to make sure that they dont settle for the person they can live with; they need to wait for the person that they cannot live without. As Jesus says in Mark 10:5-9: It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law. But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one. Therefore what God hath joined together, let no man put asunder (Huffman 1). Works Cited Harper Book of American Quotations, New York, Harper and Row, 1988, p.192. Jazz the Bebop Revolution Essay Example

Jazz the Bebop Revolution Paper Chapter 18: The Bebop Revolution: Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie * Bebop is linked to Charlie Parker who presided at its beginning and during its rise to preeminence. During his lifetime the bebop style reached its highest level. * Bebop was developed by and for virtuosos. * Theories explaining why: Instrumentalists were seeking improvisitaional freedoms that they couldn’t find in the big bands; black musicians were reasserring their supremact; jazz was maturing. * Bebop drew small audiences to after hours clubs, primary in NYC harlem. It consisted of sophisticated chord structures, irregular melodies and flashing speed left uninitiated listeners befuddled. The Bebop Style * Produced 4 significant changes in musicians attitudes towards jazz and its performance. 1. ) It is required a greater understanding of jazz theory and called for virtuoso technique. 2. ) It introduced complex instrumental melodies and phrases to replace the simpler melodies of the big band era 3. ) It introduced increasingly complicated chords and rythms to the rythms section 4. It developed a cult of serious musicians who approached their music intellectually as well as emotionally. Technique * Jazz improvisation shifted from ornamenting an original melody to organizing new patterns of fast, active melodic lines. The patterns often ended up with an abrupt two note figure that suggested the word bebop of rebop. Bebop musicians developed theoretical relationships between distended chords and esoteric scales. Their theories justifies the use of notes that were previously considered too dissonant. These notes are called melodic extensions because they are not among the primary notes if the chords. Furthermore extensiions were added to chords by the pianist to add harmonic color. New Melodies * Within the new melodic patterns of bebop, imp. Notes usually the top notes of a melodic line were accented. * This outlined a slower melody * Bebop melodies were not as tuneful as those of the big band era. And the phrasing ovevrlapped the chords in angular leaps and bounds. The Rhythm Section * Carried the weight of harmony and rhythm. Made beats faster, and complicated rhythms. Bebop drumming increased in complexity through the use of polyrhythms, : two or more contrasting rythms are played at the same time. This conflict of different rythms blurs and disguises the regular beat. * In â€Å"Un Poco Loco† max roach plays a complicated pattern in which he accompanies the solos with the explosive punctuations called bombs, on the snare or bass drum in conjunction with cymbal crashes . The bombs and cymbal spashes dominate the sounds of the rhythm section and often the entire ensemble. AABA Form * Most Bebop performance were weighted heavily with solos with a minimum of arrangement. Rigidly arranged compositions of the big band eras were rejected; soloists freedoms appeared as a backlash response to the big band ensembles where long improvisitions were impossible. * Emphasis on improvisations not only created new melodies for old songs but also eliminated the original melody entirely. * In addition to borrowing older songs as a basis for solos bebop musicans composed new tunes that minimized the written melody and expanded the time for solos. * They followed the standard 32 measure AABA form, with the 8 measure section gaving the only written melody. Formed a structure for songs in different styles. * Became a vital element in bebop composition and improvisation. Charlie Bird Parker (1920-1955) * The word bird means only one person and one thing : Charlie parker and bebop. * Born aug 29, 1920; died in 55 die to susbstances inhaled and swallowed. * Became absorbed in jazz; only had a mother; bright student. * Accepted the loan od a brass from school but did not like it. * His mother bought him an ancient alto sax for 45$; keys leaked and it was hard to blow; but Charlie taught himself to play. * Joined an amateur dance band â€Å"Deans of Swings† An insurance claim gave him enough money for a new saz in 1936 * Admired was Lester Young(tenor sax in Count Basie’s band) * Parker thought that he was reaching that point where he could Jam with players of that caliber. * In 1937 he got up to play with the famous Bass drummer Jo Jones at Reno Club. His solo progressed well but then became lost in harmonic changes in the tune. Jones threw a cymbal at him. * Had a job playing in a dance band at Lake Taneycomo in Ozark Mtns. * He committed Lester Youngs solo to his memory. * Hired by Tommy Douglas in 1938 who helped him with music theor y. Charlie stayed close to Buster smith another sax player; Parkers Professoional Career: * First job was at the Parisien Ballroom, a taxi dance hall. * Every 60 seconds the bell rang and the band segued to a new tune. * Joined Jay McShann in Kansas City, a band that was second in popularity. * Joined Earl Hines in 1943 and worked on a regular basis with Dizzy Gillespie. They practiced formal braass and woodwind instructional studies at speeds previously thought impossible. It was then that the characteristic bebop sax-trumpet unison lines developed. * He organized small groups in NYC in 1945 and secured Miles Davis as a sideman. Recorded â€Å"KoKo† Him and his band were booked to go to cali but he turned in his ticket for drug money. * Had a narcotic problem; went to a mental hosp; when he got out in 1947 recorded ‘Relaxin at camarillo†. * 1947-1950 was most productive years; worked with small groups; * 1949 he played with strings. Answers for quiz questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Answers for quiz questions - Essay Example It engages the consumers into falsified meta-communication and disturbs the commodified social relations (Strasser 145). McRobbie explains the commodity feminism by using different T.V shows’ female characters as examples. She talks about the series ‘Sex in the City’ in which the female characters are independent and career oriented. McRobbie also talks about the popular pre-school TV program â€Å"Dora the Explorer†. The purpose of talking about the female characters is to determine the gender appropriation. The examples given by her are commonly known by all and they better describe the film’s discussion by bringing to light the gender roles in this subject. She believes Dora to be an empowered active female subject(Coleman 19). Question 3: The Duffy piece focuses on the rhetoric of authenticity in women’s magazines. Using the reading, explain what she means by this and identify an example from the film in which we’re sold a different type of authenticity. As the term authenticity is being focused in the context of the Magazine, it refers to the inner â€Å"Real† beauty. The authentic beauty is a real body’s imperfect physical beauty. There is an opinion that a woman should choose a physical look to demonstrate her inner, real beauty (Bose 170). The commercial culture has been deploying the appeals to the self-expression. Women’s magazine and advertisements have been infusing increasingly with the rhetoric of authenticity (Sedivy and Carlson 43) â€Å"Thin! Bronzed! Botoxed! Blonde! Too many women—even famous ones—are caving into a cookie-cutter standard of beauty. True glamour means not conforming to some standard.†Ã¢â‚¬â€Glamour Magazine, 2008 Question 4: Identify and describe an example from the film where you see advertisers use misdirection in language. Ethnic conflict Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Ethnic conflict - Essay Example Fractionalization and polarization are two specific channels of ethnic division that jointly influence social conflict. Polarization influences social conflict more when winners attain a public prize, for example, political power. On the other hand, when prizes are of a private nature, for example infrastructure, government subsidies, or looted resources, ethnic fractionalization is more influential to social conflict (Ganguly 13). The research paper will seek to use recent theoretical research to provide evidence that social conflict is influenced by pre-existing ethnic tension and differences. Ethnicity, by itself, does not cause violent social conflict with most ethnic groups pursuing similar interests peaceful most of the time, despite inter-ethnic differences. The main causes of ethnic conflict, Ganguly (43) portends, are based on the domestic and systemic level of analysis. The systemic approach contends that ethnic conflict is dependent on the nature of security systems that the different ethnic sides operate, as well as their concerns about their security. The first systemic prerequisite is that more than one group lives live in close proximity. The second one is that international, regional, and national authorities are unable to prevent fighting among the different ethnic groups, as well as assure individual ethnic groups of their security. If anarchy prevails in a specific system, it becomes essential for the groups to defend themselves, especially if none of them can absorb the other culturally, economically, or politically (Ganguly 44). Security concerns become a paramount distress when collective fears about the capability of the state to arbitrate between different ethnic groups. In this case, some of the involved groups mobilize and deploy military resources, as the other group seeks to diminish the first group’s security, with most groups unaware of their actions’ impact on

The Role And Importance Of The Sun Philosophy Essay

The Role And Importance Of The Sun Philosophy Essay We know that the sun is very important to us but the main question is why. We all understand that the sun supplies Earth with never ending energy that we use in multiple ways. The energy comes in as heat and light and we transform the energy in different ways to create electricity. But how is the energy created and how it gets to Earth? The formation of suns energy lies within its core and radiates outward and travels out to Earth and the rest of the solar system. Our sun is the central part of our solar system; if the sun didnt exist several things wouldnt occur: the process of photosynthesis would not take place, oxygen cannot be created, therefore, life cannot be present. The sun and its sunlight give us access to many resources. Sunlight helps the plants produce oxygen and overtime create fossil fuels. The importance of the sun is both positive and negative, the more we study and understand the sun we learn to advance our society. The suns positive effects help us find and progre ss ways to gain renewable resources, such as creating wind power, dams and solar energy. The negative effects of the sun include climate changes and damaging of the ozone, and harmful effects on humans that result in sunburn, eye damage, and damaging of the skin: skin cancer and premature aging. The sun produces two different Ultraviolet Radiations (UV rays), UVA and UVB. The sun effects earth in many ways to carry on life and thats why it is very important. It gives us the privilege to energy: heat and light, oxygen, water, electricity, and many more. Its truly amazing how this star of gas can create many things to save our lifes and it is important that we understand the reasons why, and not always take it for granted. Who knows scientist say that after another 5 billion years there may not be a sun anymore. The sun plays the most essential role for all living species on Earth, without the sun there would be no existence of life on Earth. Without the sun what would happen to Earth? What will happen to the rest of the Solar System? The questions are important to know and answer. The sun is important in many ways, not only does the sun provides Earth with heat and light, it gives us various things that allow us to live. The understanding of how the sun works, and provides Earth with so many different resources that is significant in our everyday lives. The sun supplies energy through heat and gives Earth light, it is the number one reason we are alive because it helps create oxygen, in which we breathe in order to live. The importance of the all the things the sun offers Earth are positive and negative. Almost all of the energy used on the Earth comes originally from the sun. Astronomers studied the sun in several ways, understanding its functions and applying it to our world today. The st udy of the sun has led us to many understandings in science and advanced us in technology development. The more we understand the sun the more appreciative we become. It is believed that the sun is 5 billion years old star; it formed when gravity drew together an enormous cloud of gas and dust. This gravitational pull released energy and heated the Sun. The sun is huge and has a continuous release of energy; Earth only receives a small portion of that energy. The suns energy is produced by hydrogen fusion which is the sequence of thermonuclear reactions in which four hydrogen nuclei combine to produce a single helium nucleus. This fusion process in the sun is known as the proton-proton chain. (Cooke, 1985) Today, the sun still consists of mostly hydrogen. This means that the fuel supply which has burned through the first 5 billion years should be good enough for another 5 billion for the future. Fusion is the energy source that can only provide this energy rate for more than 5 billion years. Fusion requires high temperatures and high pressure to begin and carry out the process. Energy is transferred in the sun, through gamma rays photons that are produced by fusion in the core. Then energy is carried away from the suns core by radiative diffusion and convection. Radiative diffusion is the energy that is transported by photons flowing from hot, bright regions to cold, dark regions. Convection zone is farther away from the core of the sun. The Convection zone carries energy up to the surface. It allows hot fluids rise and the cold fluids to sink, overturning and bubbling like a boiling pot of water. The photosphere is heated and light is released from the sun; it takes about 1 million years for the light to be released and 8 minutes for that light to reach Earth. Earth receives Light and heat created by the sun. Starting from outside of earth and in our solar system, the sun already begins to have a very important position. Everything in our solar system orbits the sun. If that sun were not to exist, all the planets would have nothing to orbit around. But if there was no sun, nothing would keep all the planets in orbit. It is the gravity of the sun allows pulls all the planets in its orbit. The same as the moon orbiting the Earth, the moon is pulled in Earths orbit. Earth travels in an elliptical orbit around the sun because the velocity of Earth moves in a perpendicular path due to the force of the suns pull. If the sun wasnt present, Earth would travel in a straight line. (Jordan, 2003) Due to the presents sun and its gravity, it causes Earth to travel around the sun, in almost a circle. Without the sun the Earth will be dark, and cold. We wouldnt be able to even survive in extremely freezing weather and permanent darkness. As we know the sun produces light and heat, these two products are very essential to Earth in several ways. The sun helps produce a significant product for all life to occur, oxygen. Without sunlight green plants cannot exist because the process of photosynthesis cannot occur. Photosynthesis is a chemical process which water and carbon dioxide combine together (only in the presence of both sunlight and chlorophyll the chemical that makes the leaves in plants green) to produce glucose and oxygen. (Perles, 2011) Plants take in sunlight, convert it to food to live on, and grow. During the process that plants convert the sunlight to food, plants release oxygen, in which we breathe. If there were to be no existence of sunlight, then the process of photosynthesis cannot take place. Plants could not produce energy for them to survive, which means they c annot produce oxygen and they would disappear. Not only would plants disappear but people and animals would also vanish, because they depend on green plants for food and oxygen to breathe. A simple way to put it is, the food chain begins with plants to animals to humans and without the process of photosynthesis there could be no life on Earth. The sunlight did more than just allow plants to drive out the process of photosynthesis. But after the plants decay and millions and millions of years pass, buried under the ground is their decomposed organic materials: coal, petroleum, and natural gas. (Perles, 2011) Sunlight is a major factor for fossil fuels. The sunlight allowed us to have access to fossil fuels that are very important in our everyday life; we use fossil fuels as one of our energy sources. As we discovered the importance of the sun to the Earth, yet the effects that the sun creates on Earth are both positive and negative. Some positive features of the sun are mainly from its release of energy. The sun is the starting point of the water cycle. The sun heats Earths water bodies (oceans, seas, lakes, rivers) and that causes the water to evaporate. The water vapor transforms into clouds (condensation), and then the water descend from the clouds as precipitation and back into the bodies of water or on land and the cycle starts over again. Another positive result we gain from the sun is wind; wind is created through the method when sunlight heats the bodies of water and land. Earths atmosphere also heats, the warm air rises and the cool air moves to replace the rising warm air. During this transition of warm and cool are is what makes the wind blow. (Stern, 2004) Understanding and studying the sun in its production of wind and water helped us advance in new technology. Through studies of the wind and how it is created by the sun, studies lead us to use the wind to generate electricity to use. Wind is classified as a solar energy and is a renewable resource, because it is ever ending. Wind power or wind energy is the conversion of wind into mechanical or electrical power. Wind turbines is the system that runs the technology, giant windmill devices that are placed in windy locations called wind farms. (EPA, 2010) The turbines twirl and as the wind blows and creates electricity that power generators and produces electrical power. Two other forms of technology that creates electrical power are dams and solar cells. Dams or hydropower is another renewable energy source. Hydropower is the renewable energy source that produces the most electricity in the United States.(EPA, 2010) Hydropower depends on the water cycle that the sun carries through. Th e energy is carried in the flow of water in the river. Water is carried through pipes (penstocks) and then pushed up against a blade of a turbine that turns and spins a generator to produce electricity. The sunlight can be transformed to electricity directly by using photovoltaic cells (solar cells). Photovoltaic cells are electrical devices that convert energy in the sunlight directly into electricity at the atomic level. (Stern, 2004) This is a newer form technology that is advancing our lives today. Photovoltaic cells are used for solar heating on houses. They are placed on the roof of the home to heat the home and water. More recent technology that is becoming very popular is electric cars. Photovoltaic cells are advancing our world because it helps reduce the use of our non-renewable resources. Aside from all the positive results of the sun, the sun has many negative results on Earth. Studies show that the sun is the cause of climate change and some damage of the ozone. Both activities of humans that take place on Earth and the solar output from the sun are found to cause climate change. (Danny, 2008) The sun is massive and powerful, both the pollution and gasses released from the people and the power of the sun created a large hole in the ozone layer. In the past half century climate temperatures have gone up in result of this. Climate will change due to the damage the sun is causing to the ozone, the temperatures on Earth will continue to rise and natural disasters will become stronger. The sun negatively on the humans too, giving them sunburns, eye damage, and damaging the skin leading to skin cancer and premature aging. Ultraviolet Radiation (UV rays) is the light that is projected by the sun; the UV rays are what is responsible for the sunburns, skin cancer and eye damage. The atmosphere is responsible for determining the amount of UV light that is received. There are two types of UV rays that are projected by the sun. UVA rays are less harmful rays but they are not absorbed by the ozone layer. These rays are long wavelengths that cause skin tan, and age prematurely. They are dangerous because they penetrate deep into the skin. UVB rays are more severe than UVA rays, even though these rays are partly absorbed by the ozone layer. They cause sunburn. Overtime the more exposure to these rays cause skin cancer. The light from the rays damages the DNA of the skin cells, which disables the cells from making proteins. (Mazzucco, 2006) Ultimately the DNA transforms compl etely, the new DNA is duplicated and causes cancer. UVB rays also help your body create vitamin D, which is important because it helps keep bones from becoming fragile. Even though vitamin D is in some foods, vitamin D from the sun is quicker and efficient for the body. Moreover the fact that vitamin D is produced by the sun and our bodies need it, the risks that lie in the rays of the sun are hazardous. Our exposure to the sun needs to be monitored to save our health. The sun is a powerful and prominent star in our solar system. The sun does so much for Earth; life cannot carry on without it. The sun provides us with so much and the more we understand the sun the more we are able to advance from our findings. We are able progress in our society and live better lives as we know where to use our resources. As time proceeds, we may find findings to overcome the negative effects of the sun. The more we learn about our brilliant sun we also learn to be grateful for it more and not to always take it for granted, because in about 5 billion years it is presumed that the sun will die and Earth will no longer live.

HRM provide long time benefits for the workers, business and civilization. The benefits are in shape of financial and non-financial for all of them. It also helps the profit margin of a business and provides good quality for services. ( Michael Armstrong, 2006) 3. 3. Span of Human Resource Management: Span or scope of Human Resource Management is defined as: 1. Human resource planning (HRP) determines the workforce requirement and workforce supply of a business. HRP compares these two factors. If the workforce is extra then HRP makes sure to cut it down and vice versa. 2. Acquirement role consist of hiring, choosing, position and human resource planning. HRM makes sure that appropriate person is selected for the job. 3. To appoint at the right place of workers is handled by HRM because proper job for a worker gives a worker motivation and increase their competence. 4. Performance management is conducted by HRM to keep track of a worker’s performance. 5. HRM helps the workers for the organisation to develop their careers by means of promotions in next years therefore it also results in helping organisation. (K. Aswathappa, 2007) 4. . Impact of Human Resource Management on Business: This part is to evaluate the role of HRM and provide an overview on the understanding of HRM in a perspective of an international student. The importance of HRM in success of any sort of business is getting at an immense level day by day. The most essential department of any business or organisation is HRM. The importance of HRM is at high level and due to that all line manager or supervisors in HR have become a part of team. The main aspects which are dealt with HRM in retail industry are explained below: 1. The Particular Human Resource Atmosphere of Retailing: Employees are the ain source in any type of business. This is a big fact in retail industry because retail industry consists of very huge number of staffs or employees in order to provide service to their customers. The human resource atmosphere in retail industry has it own main characteristics like a huge number of staff with less experience, lots of workers are part time , keeping track of a worker, and shifts are long and dissimilarities in the demand of customer. These characteristics also create problems for retailers. First thing which is huge number of staff may result in poor presentation, high salaries and skiving.Secondly, a person with not that high qualification and without experience can apply a job in retail for the positions of till operator, staff for shop floor, trolley assistant, warehouse assistant and etc. On the other hand many workers in retail industry are part time workers which can leave the job at any time. On the second hand time is a big issue for retail industry because extensive working hours in retail industry need two shifts of workers, so retailers have to recruit staff with keeping all these aspects in their mind i. e. some might be part time workers and some will be full time workers.Thirdly is to watch over a worker or an employee because customers are the main core part of retail industry so a retailer have to be s ure that the perfect service is being provided by the staff members to a customer and there is a proper check on the behaviour and manifestation of a staff member. Finally the main aspect dissimilarity in demand by a customer can be a problem to a retailer in such sense that retailer have to think on the point of how many staff members are required. Retailers should have knowledge of all the main events and should prepare in advance the availability of staff. (A. J. Lamba, 2002) 2.The procedure of HRM in Retail Industry: The process of HRM in retail industry is dependent on four main features which are development, hiring and choice, training, performance. When a process of HRM is implementing by a retail industry the laws for labour and privacy factor for employees or workers is to be considered deeply. †¢Development: After analyzing of the present employees the outcome will help an organisation to appraise the performance of a department and helps them to think on what sort o f staff is needed to form the accurate set of skills which are needed. The main point which retailers have to think is to ecruit appropriate persons for the position so that work can be done efficiently. Recruitment of huge number of staff may result in immense costs and too few will result in incompetence of tasks. †¢Hiring and Choice: When there is a need of new workers to an organisation they use many different paths in order to hire the most appropriate person for the job. The paths or channels which are used by an organisation are institutions of education, television, internet and recruitment agencies or any other effective way to recruit the appropriate person. †¢Training: Training is the most essential aspect for HRM.After hiring an appropriate person the main aspect which falls next is to train that person so that company’s strategic plan can be utilized and company can make more out of it. †¢Performance: After all the steps the main thing is to monito r the performance and keep track and trace on the performance of an organisation and keep the knowledge whether goals are being achieved or not. If there is case of no then HRM department should make decisions to overcome the problem and rectify it as soon as possible so that no harm could come to the efficiency of work and to the accounts of company. S. C. Bhatia, 2008) 5. 0. INTERNATIONAL VIEWPOINT OF HRM: In order to explain the international viewpoint or perspective of human resource management (HRM) the best possible way is to compare the HRM practices between two regions or between two countries. The below mentioned details are about the HRM practices in these two countries. 5. 1. HRM Practice in China: People Republic of China a. k. a. China is a country located in East Asia. The capital of China is Beijing and the population is 1. 3 billion people and language of China is Mandarin Chinese.China is the world largest exporter and second largest importer of goods. Human Resourc es in Chinese industrial sections are divided in two units. †¢Cadres: This unit consist of the staffs which handle administration or people with white collar jobs for e. g. directors, engineer, government officials and managers. †¢Workers: Workers are considered as employees working on lower level. The changes which are being made in traditional HR practices in China are defined below: †¢The process of hiring has changed from planning purpose to prediction purpose. A new system is being implemented for labour which is known as contract labour system instead of old way that was lifetime job. †¢The rewarding system has change and it now dependent on the performance and hard work. HR PRACTICE: The major HR practices which are undertaken by China are defined below: †¢Staffing & Choice: The companies in China select their employees on the foundation of abilities, jobs history, work experience, command on language and ambitions for careers, furthermore the Chinese companies take an overview of all the talent and characterized them in three types which are full experts, home appointed and local-plus.Each of these categories has different scale of salaries and rewards. The techniques or methods used by China in order to recruit are through ads, agencies, university grounds placements, international representation and etc. Choice or selection by China is dependent on three paths. The first path is interview secondly it is a test and thirdly it is behaviour affair. †¢Training and Maintenance: The most important methods which are used by China in order to train and manage their employees are training for technical aspect, language expertise, pre exit method and working culture training. Encouragement and Prize System: In order to make a good profit for company and to control quality management organisation encourage their employees by rewards and giving them promotions so that they keep always motivated and give their 100% in the field. â₠¬ ¢Working Customs: Working customs or culture in China is dependent on these features which are admiration for age, individual relations, group discussions and agreement. (Fang Lee Cooke, 2005) 5. 2. HRM Practices in India: The HRM practice in India is dependent on these aspects: Recruitment and Selection: A good educational background is required along with workers recommendations, sequence planning, and conducting test before hiring and they use internet help to recruit for e. g. Naukri. com is the first Indian website for seeking jobs. Media is being used to recruit employees and all the requirement can be given through media. Selection is based on the sets of questions which are concerned by age, status in society, family and etc. †¢Training and Development: Training and development are known as future direction. The training and development method which are used by Indian companies are by running programs of training, training regarding promotions, in-house training progra ms and etc. †¢Performance Appraisal: This method is used by Indian companies to evaluate the performance of a worker so that it can be decided for that employee whether he needs time or he needs training in order to do the work efficiently and this practice is carried out by manager or supervisor. †¢Rewards and Benefits: In accumulation to a basic wage extra rewards or compensations are being awarded by the companies in India. The rewards are in the shape of home loan, medical facility, travelling facility along with casual leaves, sick leave, emergency leave, annual leave and national holidays are also awarded to employees in India. The retirement age in India for government officials is 60 years where as for private sector it is 55-60 years, hence after retirement in both sectors a huge amount of lump –sum is awarded to the retired official although a private sector employee is paid less as compared to government employee. (Gurpreet Randhawa, 2007) 6. 0. Conclusion :There is a great bond of attraction between the workers of an organisation and organization it self. Management in an instantly procession is anxious in corporeal service materials that can assist in measurement and incredible utilization of service by their businesses. The stagings of do commerce amalgamations will also provide workforce a blemish on to be perceive sound largely if ethically incorrect actions are useful in the position of job. One of the able habits is to decrease difference to professional revolutionize in training and affirmation.Conversation stuck between the workforce and the company is also an energetic organization of human resources management (HRM) in the Post-modern viewpoint. Sensible account of the human resource management (HRM) is a major piece in verbal statement demonstration. Based on these negotiations, the workforce in an organization can get better in their discriminating of their occupation and that of others in an organization, understands the verbal statement of a business usual at helping the industry achieve the aims set out, as well as contribute to the maturity and maintenance of a embrace in the open market for the production. In accumulation, the management of organization and cooperation can reduce difference as in good health. Organization is to change judgment to shatter into including disfiguring legitimacy, meandering, and damaging in sequence. Joint venture is a unforced structure to get better resister’s grip but it could be infertile if objectives information that they have been trickery. Last act desire is simple on the compartment and simple to carry out to obtain grasp up, it is moving the rule but business can take benefit of right away intimidations and services to put into result their workforce. 7. 0. The Use of Nature in Siddhartha and A Doll’s House Essay

The Use of Nature in Siddhartha and A Doll’s House Herman Hesse and Henrik Ibsen make extensive references to and use of nature in their respective masterpieces, Siddhartha and A Doll’s House. This includes the use of nature as imagery, symbolism, and to create a motif. While the objects in nature do differ because of the location of the stories, there is also overlap. In Siddhartha Herman Hesse refers to two symbols of nature, birds and water, specifically the river. The first reference to a bird is when Siddhartha decides to leave the Buddha. He realizes that he is going through one of many changes, ceasing to be a Samana but unable to go back to being a Brahmin. In response Siddhartha, â€Å"shiver[s] inwardly like a small animal,†¦show more content†¦As a result of this dream, Siddhartha leaves Kamala and his life as a rich man. When Kamala learns this, she releases the songbird, symbolic of how Siddhartha’s soul is now free from the sins sustained by leading a rich life. His soul now lives free of its spiritual cage, allowing Siddhartha to work towards his goal of Nirvana. Later, Hesse makes another bird reference demonstrating that the bird is symbolic of Siddhartha’s soul. Siddhartha analyzes his life after having the startling dream. He concludes that all of his decisions to this time have been correct, because the â€Å"bird in his breast† (Hesse 98) is still alive. Hesse uses the breast, location of the heart, for where the bird lives because it provides more support for the motif that he is creating. Like the previous references, this one establishes that the bird is symbolic of Siddhartha’s soul, because the heart is where the soul â€Å"lives.† Another nature symbol serving as a motif is the river. This motif is used to represent the physical world around Siddhartha and his transition through it. The first reference comes when Siddhartha (as a Samana) is wandering after leaving the Buddha. He comes to it, and needs to cross to continue along a footpath on the other side. He does so, encountering Kamala on the other side and leaving the life of a businessman. The use of the river comes into play as a border, symbolizing the line he crosses when he transitions from a wanderer to a
